What is dashboard history?
Vistazo keeps versions of each dashboard's setup, so you can see an earlier state and go back to it. Find them under Settings → History on the dashboard.
What does a version hold?
A version records how the dashboard is built and holds no data.
| In a version | Left out |
|---|---|
| Every widget, with its data sources, transform, position, size and styling | The rows the widgets show |
| The parameters | The refresh schedule |
| The dashboard's name, description and tags | Sharing and permissions |
| Any theme overrides | The written context summary |
A restored dashboard refreshes to fill itself back in with current data, so restoring never brings back old numbers. Leaving out the schedule means rolling back a layout keeps your current refresh cadence. Leaving out sharing means a restore cannot reopen something you just locked down. The context summary is rewritten from the dashboard as it stands.
When is a version saved?
Vistazo waits for a burst of edits to settle, then saves the result as one version. Moving four widgets and recoloring two charts makes one version rather than six. A burst settles after 15 minutes without an edit, and the version can land a few minutes after that.
A version is also saved at these moments:
| Moment | Why |
|---|---|
| Before the built-in assistant's first change in a turn, if anything changed since the last version | The state going into its edits stays recoverable |
| When you press Save a version now | A marker you choose |
| Just before a restore | The restore can be undone |
| Just before archiving | The dashboard is kept as it was archived |
When nothing has changed since the last version, Save a version now is unavailable and its tooltip reads No unsaved changes.
History keeps the 50 most recent versions and drops the oldest beyond that.
How do you restore a version?
Pick a version, press Restore this version, then Confirm restore. Vistazo saves the current state first, so restoring the wrong version can be undone. The dashboard then refreshes to fill in its data.
Restoring is also how you get a removed widget back, as long as a version within the last 50 still holds it.
Saving and restoring are unavailable on an archived dashboard. Restore the dashboard from Settings → General first.
Skills and notebooks keep their own history the same way, under Settings → History. See Skills.
