# Curated sources

## What is a curated source?

Curated sources are five public data sources that Vistazo hosts. Vistazo runs the servers and keeps up
with the upstream APIs, so you need no account and no key. You can build a dashboard from them before
you connect anything of your own. A dashboard can also show them beside charts of your own data, such as
exchange rates next to revenue. Calls are free, like every data call, and each source allows each
person a set number of calls a minute ([Limits](/docs/reference/limits)).

| Source | Data | Tools |
|---|---|---|
| [Countries](/docs/data/sources/countries) | Development indicators per country and year, such as population, GDP, life expectancy and CO₂, from thousands available | [9 tools](/docs/mcp-tools/curated-countries) |
| [Markets](/docs/data/sources/markets) | Financials for U.S. public companies from SEC filings, with daily stock prices | [6 tools](/docs/mcp-tools/curated-markets) |
| [Economy](/docs/data/sources/economy) | U.S. macro series from FRED, such as inflation, unemployment, rates and housing. Federal debt and spending. Daily exchange rates | [10 tools](/docs/mcp-tools/curated-economy) |
| [Weather](/docs/data/sources/weather) | Current conditions and a nine-day forecast anywhere, historical weather from the nearest NOAA station, earthquakes worldwide, live U.S. weather alerts, and U.S. storm history since 1950 | [7 tools](/docs/mcp-tools/curated-weather) |
| [Wikipedia](/docs/data/sources/wikipedia) | Daily pageviews for any English Wikipedia article since 2015, and the most-read articles of any day | [3 tools](/docs/mcp-tools/curated-wikipedia) |

## How do you connect a curated source?

A new workspace starts with Countries and Economy connected for the person who created it. To add
another, open **Settings → Connections** and press the + beside it under **Included**. There is no
sign-in, because the source is public data.

## How does your agent reach a source?

Your agent reaches these sources through Vistazo's MCP server, the same one it uses for dashboards.

```
https://mcp.vistazo.ai/mcp
```

Your agent finds a source's tools with `search_tools` and runs them with `call_tool`, under names
such as `economy__series_observations` or `weather__forecast`. The `/mcp/full` address lists them
directly. There is nothing to install for each source. A source is named for its subject
rather than its provider, because several draw on more than one. Economy reads FRED, the U.S. Treasury
and the European Central Bank.

See [Connect your own agent](/docs/mcp/connect) to set one up, and [Your connected sources](/docs/mcp/gateway)
for how source tools behave there.

## Who publishes the data?

The data belongs to its publishers, and their licenses require credit. Each source's page under
**Settings → Connections** names its publishers, and **Learn more** opens the source's page here.

| Source | Attribution |
|---|---|
| Countries | Data from World Bank (CC BY 4.0) |
| Markets | Data from SEC EDGAR and Databento |
| Economy | Data from FRED, U.S. Treasury and ECB |
| Weather | Data from MET Norway and GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), NOAA and USGS |
| Wikipedia | Data from Wikimedia |

Each source's page lists every publisher it draws on, with links and licenses.
